Fentanyl Test Kit

What are fentanyl test strips?

Fentanyl test strips are small, portable strips that check for fentanyl in recreational substances. They’re key for harm reduction, helping to lower the risk of overdoses and other problems from fentanyl.

What is fentanyl?

Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that can be lethal in small doses. It can be added to drugs purposefully or even accidentally through cross-contamination. Fentanyl has been found in drugs that have been sold as cocaine, heroin, meth, counterfeit prescription pills (oxycodone, Xanax, and Adderall), MDMA/ecstasy, and ketamine.

What comes with each Fentanyl Test Kit?

Our Fentanyl Test Kit 5-pack includes five fentanyl test strips, five mini spoons for precise substance measurement, and five distilled water pouches for accurate dilution before testing. Our Fentanyl Test Kit 1-pack includes one fentanyl test strip and one mini spoon–you provide your own clean water source for testing.

What's the sensitivity of the Fentanyl Test Kit?

Our Fentanyl Test Kits are 99% accurate at a sensitivity of 15ng/mL. Failure to follow the user instructions may result in an inaccurate test kit results.

Are there any limitations to the Fentanyl Test Kit?

Overdrive's Fentanyl Test Kits are used to test substances for the presence of fentanyl at a concentration over 15 ng/ml in water. These fentanyl test kits are designed for harm reduction, helping users identify potential risks in unknown substances. Overdrive’s Fentanyl test strips do not determine the purity, composition, or overall safety of a substance and do not detect other opioids. These fentanyl testing kits are intended to reduce harm, not promote or endorse drug use, distribution, or unlawful manufacturing.

Can I use the Fentanyl Test Kit to test for fentanyl in cannabis?

No, it is currently not recommended to use any type of Fentanyl Test Kit to test cannabis for fentanyl (ny.gov).

How do I use the Fentanyl Test Kit 5 pack that comes with the water pouch?

For detailed instructions, visit the Fentanyl Test Kit section on the How To Use page.

Why is there is barely any water in the distilled water pouch?

The Overdrive Fentanyl Test Kit is designed for efficiency and accuracy. Our fentanyl test kit require just one small scoop of a substance—far less than the 3-5 scoops needed for other fentanyl test kits on the market. The low water level reduces waste and minimizes the risk of over-dipping, which can compromise test results. Clear red arrow indicators ensure proper testing, making this one of the most user-friendly fentanyl testing kits available.

How do I use the Fentanyl Test Kit 1 pack that doesn't come with the water pouch?

For detailed instructions, visit the Fentanyl Test Kit section on the How To Use page.

What is "the chocolate chip cookie" effect?

The illicit drug supply is unpredictable—one part of your stash might be fine, while another could contain a lethal dose of fentanyl. This is called the "chocolate chip cookie effect" (CDC): your drugs are the cookie, and fentanyl is scattered throughout like chocolate chips. You might test one spot and get a negative result, but another spot could still be deadly. Even if you stick with the same dealer, each batch can vary. The safest approach is to test using the Fentanyl Test Kit every time.

What do I do if my Fentanyl Test Kit result are invalid?

If your test is invalid, indicated by no red lines or one red line at the bottom, restart test from the beginning and make sure to carefully follow the user instructions on our How To Use page.

The line is very faint on my test strip, what does that mean?

If you can see a second red line on the bottom with your eyes, even a faint one, the line is there. This is a negative result for fentanyl at a concentration of 15 ng/mL from your substance + water mixture.

What do I do if I get a positive result?

If you get a positive result, first and foremost dispose of your substance and do not consume it.

How should I store the Fentanyl Test Kit?

Store at 4-30 degrees C° (39-86 degrees F°) sealed. Keep away from direct sunlight.

Do the Fentanyl Test Kits expire?

Yes, our Fentanyl Test Kits have a shelf life and expire 2 years from their manufacture date when stored properly in the original pouch.

This can vary between different batches so check the expiration date printed on your Fentanyl Test Kit's packaging to ensure accuracy. Do not use after the expiration date.

Drink Spike Test Kit

What are the Drink Spike Test Kit for?

Overdrive's Drink Spike Test Kits are the first line of defense against the following common drink spiking drugs: Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (commonly referred to as "GHB"), Ketamine and Flunitrazepam (commonly referred to as Rohypnol or "Roofie"). These drugs can cause symptoms ranging from drowsiness to anesthetic like effects. By using the Drink Spike Test Kit, you gain critical insight and control. This drug testing kit helps reduce the risk of drink tampering, while playing a real role in preventing sexual assault. Overdrive Defense gives you peace of mind—because protection starts with peace of mind.

What are the 3 drugs that the Drink Spike Test Kit test for?

GHB is Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate, a central nervous system depressant. It is widely known as a "date rape" drug due to its sedative and amnesic effects.

Ketamine also known as "Special K" is widely used as an anesthetic in medical settings, but can also be used to illegally spike a drink. Some signs of ketamine drink spiking include sudden drowsiness, confusion and disorientation, memory loss, dizziness, and nausea.

Rohypnol or Roofie is also widely known as a "date rape" drug because of its powerful sedative effects and its ability to cause amnesia. It is often slipped into drinks without the victim's knowledge, leading to incapacitation and memory loss.

What comes in the Drink Spike Test Kit?

Each Drink Spike Test Kit contains one GHB, ketamine, and rohypnol (roofies) 3-in-1 test.

Drink Spike Test Kit 2.0 comes with enhanced easy-to-use components made up of one 3-in-1 test blade and one test pod.

Drink Spike Test Kit comes with the original easy-to-use components made up of 3-in-1 test card, one dropper, and one water test tube.

How effective is the Drink Spike Test Kit?

Drink Spike Test Kit results are ready in 5 minutes and are 99% accurate if used in accordance with our instructions on the How To Use page.

What are the sensitivity levels for the 3 drugs tested in the Drink Spike Test Kit?

GHB, defined as Gamma-hydroxybutyrate, test is 500 𝜇g/ml.

Ketamine test is 15 𝜇g/ml.

Roofie or Rohypnol, defined as flunitrazepam, test is 10 𝜇g/ml.

Are there any limitations to the Drink Spike test?

Yes. Overdrive’s Drink Spike Test Kits are designed to test beverages for the presence of GHB, ketamine, and rohypnol (roofies)—the three most common drugs involved in drink spiking. These drug testing kits do not detect other potential adulterants or spiking agents, and they are not intended to assess the composition, purity, or overall safety of any substance.

Important: If you are using a Drink Spike Test Kit that comes with a 3-in-1 test card, do not place the drink sample directly into the test cassette. Always use the included water tube to dilute the beverage before testing. Failure to do so will compromise the accuracy of the results. To check which Drink Spike Test Kit you are using, see our How To Use page.

A negative results can be obtained when a drug is present but below the cut-off level of the test.Be aware that dark condensed juice (such as Grenadine) may affect the background color and performance of the tests, thus affecting the interpretation of the results. If the concentration of grenadine is less than or equal to 10%, it has no effect on the test. It is possible that technical or procedural errors, as well as other interfering substances in the beverage sample, may cause erroneous results.

For detailed instructions, visit our How To Use page.

What do I do if my Drink Spike Test Kit result are invalid?

A single line at the bottom of the Overdrive Drink Spike Test Kit indicates an inconclusive result. You should retest with a new kit.

Note: There are some limitations to the Drink Spike Test that could potentially affect the results.

Technical or procedural errors, along with certain interfering substances in the drink sample, may lead to false or erroneous results. Additionally, a negative result may occur even if GHB, ketamine, or rohypnol (roofie) is present but falls below the test’s cut-off detection level.

What do I do if I get a positive result?

If your Drink Spike Test Kit shows a positive test, dispose of your drink immediately. If you feel your drink may still be spiked even after testing, consider not drinking it.

What do I do if I think I ingested a drink that was spiked?

If you suspect you've ingested a drink that's been spiked, call 911 to seek medical attention immediately.

How should I store the Drink Spike Test?

Store at 4-30 degrees C (39-86 degrees F) sealed. Keep away from direct sunlight.

Does the Drink Spike Test Kit expire?

This can vary between different batches so check the expiration date printed on your product's packaging to ensure accuracy. Do not use the tests after expiration date as you may not get accurate results.

Understanding and preventing drink spiking.

Drink spiking is unfortunately a real threat. There are measures you can take to help protect yourself and your friends in social settings like dates, parties, festivals, concerts, clubs, and bars.

Watch Your Drink: Always keep an eye on your drink and never leave it unattended.

Accept Drinks Cautiously:
Only accept drinks from bartenders or servers you can see preparing them. Avoid accepting drinks from strangers or people you don't trust completely.

Cover Your Drink:
Use a drink cover or your hand to cover your drink when you're not actively drinking. Some companies sell products specifically designed to cover drink openings.

Open Your Own Bottles and Cans:
Open your own drinks to ensure they haven’t been tampered with and avoid sharing or exchanging drinks with others.

Drink Spike Testing Kits:
Use drink test strips or kits that can detect common drugs used in drink spiking. These can be discreetly used to test your drink if you have any concerns.

Seek Help Immediately:
If you or someone else shows signs of being drugged (such as sudden drowsiness, confusion, or disorientation), seek medical attention immediately. Alert venue security and staff to the situation.

Report Incidents:
Report any suspected drink spiking to the authorities and venue management.

If I encounter someone having an overdose, what do I do?

If you suspect an overdose, call 911 immediately for medical assistance. If you have naloxone (brand names include Narcan, RiVive, Kloxxado) and know how to use it, administer it along with rescue breaths. These actions can save a life while waiting for medical personnel to arrive.

Where can I buy naloxone?

Naloxone nasal sprays are now available over-the-counter, so we recommend checking your local pharmacy. In most areas, you can also request it at the pharmacy counter and have it dispensed to you under a statewide “standing order” that allows the pharmacist to dispense naloxone to anyone who might be at risk of overdose or might be around someone at risk. If you cannot find or afford it, check out NEXT Distro’s mail-based naloxone distribution program here at Next Distro.

Understanding and preventing overdoses.

An “overdose” usually means taking too much of a drug—most of the time, it’s accidental. Due to the 'chocolate chip cookie effect', where fentanyl is randomly scattered and can be unevenly distributed in the batch of drugs, there is no way of knowing the amount of fentanyl that could be present in your substance. Therefore, it's important to always use a drug test kit before using. If you are still not confident after testing, do not use the substance. It's not worth the risk.

What can I do to prevent an overdose?

Here are some safety measures you and others can practice to help prevent the possibility of an overdose. More information can be found at the National Harm Reduction Coalition.

- The easiest way to prevent overdose is to not use any substances which could cause overdose.

- Start low, go slow (use a small amount and use it slowly, waiting to see how it might affect you before using more).

- Avoid combining multiple substances, including alcohol, prescription medications, and supplements.

- Test your drugs every time before using them.

- Never use alone, but if you are alone, call the Never Use Alone Hotline at 1-877-696-1996. Make sure you are not behind a locked door.

- Make sure you have naloxone nearby and that someone you trust knows how to use it if you would need it.

- Stay hydrated and try to eat.

- Use less when you are sick or haven't used recently, as even a few days of abstinence or decreased use can lower your tolerance.

-Be careful when you are changing modes of administration (eating/drinking, snorting, smoking, injecting) as this can affect how the drug works in your body.
